Resolume Arena with ParksTool Encoder MIDI Controller

Resolume Arena with ParksTool Encoder MIDI Controller

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to share a recent customer interaction that highlights our dedication to resolving technical issues and ensuring our customers have the best possible experience with ParksTool products.

Recently, a customer named D***  reached out with concerns about their new ParksTool 4ES2K (4 Encoders 2K) MIDI Controller. D*** was experiencing issues with the encoders not behaving smoothly, making big jumps instead of gradual changes when assigned to Volume and Opacity values in Resolume Arena.

(TLDR; if it was only one element, it works perpect but D*** wanted to use one knob with different elements. in this case, we need NOT to use Absolute mode but Relative mode)

After some back-and-forth troubleshooting, including checking firmware updates and trying different cables, we discovered the issue was related to how Resolume Arena was interpreting the MIDI input. By adjusting the controller to send specific MIDI values for left and right turns (65 for left, 63 for right) and setting Resolume Arena to use relative mode, we were able to resolve the problem. D*** also found that inverting the values allowed for a more intuitive control scheme for their setup.

This experience underscores our commitment to providing excellent customer support and finding creative solutions to technical challenges. We're thrilled that D*** is now enjoying their 4ES2K controller and appreciate their patience and feedback throughout the troubleshooting process.

If you ever encounter any issues with your ParksTool products, please don't hesitate to reach out. We're here to help!

Best regards,
