ParksTool MIDI Controller – Common Features
Plug and Play MIDI Controller
- Works as a Plug and Play USB MIDI controller—no drivers needed.
- Some products include two extra keys for bank switching (available from firmware version 8).
- Supports CC (Control Change), Note On, Note Off, Program Change, and Pitchbend messages.
- In Custom Mode, you can assign different values for left and right turns, enabling relative control, such as using VPot in the Mackie Control Protocol (MCP).
MIDI Modes
1. MIDI Normal Mode
Encoders & Potentiometers
- Can send CC (Control Change) or Note On messages.
- Configurable MIDI channel, CC numbers, and Note numbers.
- Sends CC values or Note velocity based on knob position.
- Minimum and maximum values can be set in the Global Variables section.
Keys
- Sends CC 127 or Note velocity 127 when pressed.
- Configurable MIDI channel and CC number.
- Supports custom CC values or velocities.
- Toggle Mode is available.
Toggle Mode for Keys
- In Toggle Mode, each press switches between a predefined value and 0.
- Works in MIDI Mode as well as Keyboard Mode.
2. MIDI Pitchbend Mode
- Works with Encoders and Potentiometers.
- Rotating the control sends Pitchbend data.
3. MIDI Program Change Mode
Encoders & Potentiometers
- Sends Program Change messages based on position.
Keys
- Sends Program Change messages with configurable numbers.
- Configured via the Web Configuration Tool.
4. MIDI Custom Mode
🚀 This is the biggest new feature in this release!
Encoders & Potentiometers
- Can send custom messages.
- Independent values can be set for left turn and right turn.
- Enables relative control with customizable messages.
Keys
- Supports Press action and Release action.
- Toggle Mode is available.
Supported MIDI Messages:
- Note Off, Note On, Program Change, Control Change (CC), Pitchbend.
5. Keyboard, Consumer Control, and Mouse Features
- Allows the device to act as a keyboard, volume controller, or mouse.
- Supports keyboard shortcuts, media controls, and mouse actions.
6. Bank Change Support
- Encoders and Keys can be used for bank switching.
- The number of banks depends on the number of elements (keys & potentiometers).
- Example:
- A 24-potentiometer device can have 3 banks.
- A device with 8 potentiometers + 2 keys can support up to 8 banks.
- Default: 2 banks, adjustable via the Global Variables tab in the Web Configuration Tool.
How to Change Banks
- Assign dedicated keys for Bank+ and Bank- functions.
- If your device has an encoder, you can use it for bank switching.
- Detented encoders are recommended for better feedback.
- If your device has only one key, enable Bank Looping in the Global Variables tab.
- When enabled, reaching the last bank will cycle back to Bank 0.

HCI Mode – Keyboard, Media, and Mouse Controls
Keyboard Mode
- Supports US keyboard layout.
Media and Consumer Keys
- Record, Fast Forward, Rewind, Next, Previous, Stop, Play/Pause, Pause.
- Mute, Volume Up, Volume Down.
- Power, Sleep, Brightness Up, Brightness Down, Screensaver (availability depends on the device).
Mouse Mode
- Supports Left Click, Right Click, Double Click, Scroll Up/Down, Move Up/Down/Right/Left, Middle Click.
Deej Compatibility
- Can be set as Deej compatible for volume control.
- Disabled by default, but can be enabled via the Web Configuration Tool.
